Champalou, Vouvray Le Portail 2020

Domaine Champalou is a highly regarded winery located in the storied Vouvray appellation of the Loire Valley, France. The estate is owned and operated by Catherine and Didier Champalou, who have been producing exceptional wines since the early 1980s, and are now farming using fully sustainable & organic practices. Le Portail 2020 is made using 100% Chenin Blanc; the nose has enticing aromas of fresh white flowers, acacia blossom and honeysuckle. These floral notes are complemented by delicate hints of ripe citrus, lemon zest and juicy mandarin, adding a zesty and refreshing dimension to the aroma. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with the fruity character being beautifully integrated with a gentle minerality, showcasing the limestone-rich soils of the region. Drinking well now, but with the potential to age for some years yet.
